>>292140Someone who has experience working on an assembly line please explain to me how the fuck that machine doesn't have a reset or emergency switch to pull the pressure out of the pistons so people can maneuver the arms in just such cases? I'm shocked there's apparently nothing the workers can do except getting stuck in a conveyor belt themselves. Jesus fucking Christ.

>>292146China. There's a whole internet subculture and some websites dedicated to exposing the horrors of working in Chinese factories. This one is tame but still reflects the substandard safety designs of all these companies.
These buildings have all the newest robots and sensors, but companies fall short on any practical risk-prevention. There are laws governing safety standard minimums over there but evidently enforcement is lacking. Even if that robot was constructed with an E-Stop, the button would have been moved by the factory managers to prevent workers from accidentally bumping it, and if it was still accesible, the workers aren't educated on what it does.
I've worked in factories with these robots and they were caged off with two layers fencing. IR sensors would detect movement between the fences and shut the whole line down insantly. A bumblebee loose in the factory had managed to trigger several safety alarms to the point where we were offered weekend overtime to make up for lost production. Strange to see these armatures even running within reach of humans.

>>292184I am a chronic masturbator who owns multiple VR headsets and I have to say that VR porn really isn't any better than normal porn. The extra hassle involved with the headset isn't worth it.

>>292187Any good games specially made for VR yet? Every 6 months to a year I take a look at the stuff you can play with VR but it all looks like shit to me, or maybe I'm missing out?
No.292193
>>292189The only VR games where I truly didn't feel like VR was a gimmick were star wars: squadrons and star trek: bridge crew.
Bridge Crew sucks now because it is damn near impossible to find enough people who are willing to play, but it was an extremely entertaining and social experience shortly after its release. No one knew how to play so people were forced to interact with each other and actually listened to the captain. It absolutely nailed what I think VR should be about, which is simulating an experience that you cannot have in real life. That game could've done a lot of things better, but in the early days, you could have a lot of fun with randos simply because of how easy the game made it for the crew to interact with each other.
I liked Star Wars: Squadrons because it had a good single-player campaign, and was naturally a good fit for VR due to it being a flight combat game. Too bad the game was also designed to be played in 2D so the VR experience is lacking in some areas, but it is still fun overall. I didn't care much for the multiplayer so I can't say much about that.
An honorable mention is HL:Alyx. That is a pretty solid game, but it is a game that feels like it was developed to just show people that you can make a good FPS single-player game in VR. The VR doesn't particularly add anything special, but it is real nice. Kinda like upgrading your audio setup from 3.1 to 5.1 or 7.1. You don't NEED it to enjoy the media, but it definitely adds to the experience. There is no reason HL:Alyx to be restricted to VR only, other than to push sales of VR headsets.
Another genre that works well with VR is fitness. Holopoint VR is my favorite fitness game right now. I can easily play that game for at least 30 min a day and get a workout in. If VR is to reach the normie masses then fitness games are where it is at.

>>294335it's very curious despite being arguably the most advanced race their belief system is similar to what you would find on animistic west africa, assigning little spirit/deities to everything and having them all ranked as if it was a grinding game despite this, none wold fit the role of a proper god much less the Abrahamic one. This is why the Buddists let them have their little shrines all over the place, they didn't consider it a treath to Buddist faith, it's also similar to Santeria (afro-caribean religions) thought I am aware they are mostly atheists, and they just really love/respect tradition, it explains why they can't get western religions. The biggest diference is that African shit is all dirty and shitty and their's is all clean and symetric.
No.294344
>>294343Would you say that Buddhism is a "faith?" I was told early on that it was really more a philosophy, and, as such, was broadly incapable of being in conflict with faiths proper and so could easily co-exist with whatever kind of local mythology or religion happened to prevail. I'm not an expert, but that seems like a reasonable categorization, much like if one were to consider logical debate as found in science or some other such philosophy then this does not come in to contradiction with any reasonably sound religion.
No.294345
>>294344>reasonably soundthat's because Japs believe in their Kami as how most people think about Fairies and Santa Claus, as I understand it, Buddism in Japan is very different from Buddism elsewere, Japanese one is full of pacts and specific rituals, I think the original monks that converted them just found them inocuous and non threathening so they let them be, not because they are reasonable, but because they are harmless… very different from Afro-Caribean animistic rituals full of blood sacrifices and hexes.
No.294346
>>294345I don't know a whole lot about the kami and what-all, but that sounds like almost not too much sugar coating about how vile things might really have been in certain corners of it all. Let's be honest: most folk religions around the world were full of blood rituals and all kind of magical savagery, and that certainly did and does persist in south east asia (cf. south korea still has islander mindsets about circumcision and lizard people, also found in africa - deffo something weird going on at a planetary scale.)
But what you say makes sense. Once upon a time I visited the temple with the Bo tree under which allegedly Buddha himself sat under. Aside from the tourist trap nature, and the terrorist screenings, I was was not really expecting the monks there to be so dedicated to not venerating it that they'd build and maintain a temple around a big tree and then outwardly give it over to dirtiness and selling tourist trinkets just to make a point of how humble they were. Different mindset from the West, I guess. Or maybe just a way to make a living while continuing their own way of life.
