 No.50303[Last 50 Posts]

As the several traveling threads prove, there are plenty of wizards who are curious about the world. Here, we talk about our traveling wishes and interests in a more abstract and general sense. What countries have you visited? What were your experiences? What countries are you curious about visiting and why? Any particular place you'd avoid like the plague? It doesn't matter if your traveling ideas are realistic or not, just share what interests you.

I was personally always more intrested in the more obscure and mysterious places that you never see on TV, and how people live there. Some islands in the middle of nowhere, certain African countries with an unremarkable present but a cool history, the mountain villages of Tibet, stuff like that. I've travelled around Europe a bit and was shocked how big a difference in culture there is between countries so close by, in the countless details of culture, food, architecture, people's temperament, and so on. I'm hoping to save up enough for a trip to Asia and/or Africa. There's a lot to experience out there.

i have never traveled abroad.
t. third worlder

Many niggaz in Southside Chiraq never left their hood to go to the city center let alone other cities or countries.

10d14[ 10d14 = 85 ]

I wouldn't travel even if I were filthy rich. The reality of it would just end up like anything else in this world, depressingly inferior to the fantasy.

I've been to France(Marseilles) for non-tourism reasons. I don't really like travelling though and even if I was rich I would probably only visit Japan and maybe some tank museums and such.

I've only ever traveled abroad to visit relatives or when I have business there. Usually, I don't really enjoys visiting tourist's hotspot and local landmarks. My best experience is probably riding my motorcycle with my dad to visit some Buddhist ruins in Java. That's what traveling should be, being able to go anywhere you want, not following some shitty tour plan where you visit artificial tourist hotspot built by money grubbing government officials to attract dumb far eastern tourists. I've always wanted to go on a road trip, like at the end of Oyasumi Punpun. Just go as far as you can before dying.

I wouldn't mind going to Britain or some East Asia, namely Tibet, Vietnam, etc. Pretty much the rural places. I would probably avoid the middle east and Africa for now as well as most European countries. I would probably avoid India too.

I'd visit the Sahara to look for neolithic settlement, ancient civilisation lost in the desert, and the Richart structure. If I knew how to do archaeology and the funding or personal money to do it.

Marseilles is one of the worst place you could possibly visit in France. The whole city is decaying and collapsing.

File: 1571144322101.jpg (1.71 MB, 3264x2448, 4:3, IMG_0064.JPG) ImgOps iqdb

The city centre is alright but the further from that you get the worse it becomes, particularly north of the city which looks like some dystopian ghetto with ugly third world looking commie blocks everywhere. Luckily I never had to go there and only viewed it from the bus from the air port to the city centre and from the plane.

The old town is indeed quite nice. I don't know how the police security has changed in recent years, but it was pretty bad at some point. As for the decay, entire buildings have also started to collapse, some of which are/were still being inhabited.

I've been thinking about Iran, Burma, Ethiopia or Europe. Are there any tips you eurowizzies can give a burger for travelling in Europe? What are the most anti-american places in Europe?

>Are there any tips you eurowizzies can give a burger for travelling in Europe?
I haven't travelled alone, so I have no idea how you're supposed to do that, or how much it'll cost. The countryside is pretty nice to visit, if you enjoy strolling in nature, and there's a lot of villages and small towns worth seeing.

>What are the most anti-american places in Europe?

People don't care that much about Americans. Those who care, are progressives, but you can fool them by wearing a Refugee Welcome t-shirt (not that they are going to attack you in the first place), and Muslims as you could expect, they are relatively easy to avoid if you have spatial awareness (probably the same skill you'd develop around blacks from the hood), to be fair, they keep to themselves and don't bother anybody most of the time if you don't go to bad neighbourhoods. Depending on the cities and place, they'll try to rob you, or sell you drugs but that has nothing to do with you being American.

>Any particular place you'd avoid like the plague?
China. Been there 2 times. Both times were terrible. Political shit aside, china is a terrible country to live in and visit. Very crowded, every single chinese person is a jobsworth, food is either tasteless mush or unbearably spicy. Every single attraction is filled with the usual chinese tourists times 5.
Do not recommend. If you really want to visit an overpopulated asian country - pick Japan.

Its just leftist countries that hate Americans. Poland is the country that loves America the most right now. If you are bound to mobility scooter like most Americans you should check out the cities that have historical buildings, modern cities are boring.

Reading one Japanese comic per month is enough Japanese stuff for me, I have never understood the fascination with Japan, is that an Anglo thing? The only people I know that watch Japanese cartoons are Anglos.

I'm more interested in Taiwan. I've done some research on it and it seems like a really cool place. Had mainland china been managed like that, it would have been the most beautiful, culturally lush and economically prosperous country in the world by far. It's like a bizarre window into alternative history of "what china would have been if communists didn't fuck it up".

found the abo

>Poland is the country that loves America the most right now.

It's Kosovo. Not even a contest.

I've been to Mexico (Chihuahua, Sonora, Baja California and Mexico City) and Canada (most of the big cities). I would like to visit Europe, Russia, and Central Asia. The "stan countries" in particular seem very wizardly to me although they're probably pretty hardcore for an inexperienced solo traveler who doesn't know russian.

How would you say Canada is different from US? What was your general impression of mexico?

Beer was invented by Jews and coffee by Africans.

I visited Italy this summer and their capuccino was absolutely fantastic, and cheap, too. I drank 5 cups a day while there. The problem is that after returning home to my frozen wastes I can no longer drink the slop they call "capuccino" here. There is such a thing as knowing too much.

>There is such a thing as knowing too much.
there's so damn much truth in this, this is why I became basically ascetic years ago, I won't even try new foods or do things like google what my favorite musicians look like

you can't miss what you don't know
fantasy is always better than reality

And civilization by Africans and Chinese, I get it. White people did invent some stuff you know, you don't need to bash us for no reason.

I just realized how random this looks but every country here has something cool that I want to experience.

Have a spare ticket?

Whites invented colonialism, there you go

What is there to do in Ethiopia?

They're a pretty unique country in Africa, the only one never properly colonized. I've read up on it a little and I like the internal politics, different tribes/territories with their own cultures and intrigues. It would be fun to travel around with a good guide who could show and tell me about the country. I also became interested in heir food after visiting some Ethiopian restaurants.

I'm not some hardcore anthropologist but a more serious kind of tourist visit would be pretty fun. I.e. you don't just snap pics of landmarks and go home, but actually stay in the country for a little while and soak in the atmosphere.

I read something once about ethiopian monks living in very tall towers that are like 2000 years old, like wizard towers

those would be cool to visit

Good job coloring all those countries in red. It must have taken you a while.

He knows what he hates.

Show me a picture or else i disbelief

alright it wasn't a tower, it was this

it was 20 years ago in a national geographic *shrug*

i have lived in probably a third of the us states by now so i'm just used to moving i guess and nowhere feels like a home. went to mexico as a child but i don't remember any of it, japan as an adult and i loved it. i would like to visit south korea because it's a small asian country that is pretty high tech and safe, also because their language uses an alphabet it's easier to google stuff and recognize words in the wild. i would avoid big cities and people in general if i do another trip.

Don't want to visit NZ?

haven't seen much of the world unfortunately. I would especially love visiting some of the beautiful nature reserves in the USA. Early days of lockdown were great even for my country: i could walk all day long without seeing too many people. With everyone being tired of lockdown, many not wageslaving and nice weather it's become an overcrowded shithole again where you can't sit a park without normies disturbing the peace by being loud and obnoxious.

What did you do in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, wiz?

>What did you do in Egypt, wiz?

I want a country safe enough to tour via bicycle.

you're gonna have your head chopped off in indonesia, just pick some european cunt

Collecting administrative subdivisions. Plus, cycling is fun and there's a sense of adventure and accomplishment.

what exactly does collecting administrativ subdivisions mean? checking of a map of the regions you visit, or actually collecting some item or something?

>Plus, cycling is fun and there's a sense of adventure and accomplishment.
Is your bike named Hermes too?
By 'administrative divisions,' I think he means what Switzerland would call cantons, Canada would call provinces, the U.S. would call states, and then he just takes a picture of the signs that say "Welcome to Saxony" or "Saxony Region Limits." He checks them off of his map and then goes to the next one.
Is that the right idea, anon?

It's a dedicated touring bicycle.

Here you go.

a somewhat safe but overpriced shithole.
ignorance seems to be a common problem there.
the weather is great compared to other middle eastern countries.
poor, relying on international aids.
trying to mimic the western lifestyle while not having the capacity for that.
most native succubi are ugly.
most people mind their own business.
they worship money more than the jews do.
too many mosques. LIKE TOO MANY! my apartment building was literally surrounded by 4 mosques with a 50 meters distance/each. they're very loud and annoying (and racist).
most importantly and what everybody agrees to, is that jordanians are the most disloyal, unfriendly, and obnoxious people, probably on earth. i went to prison and was put in a cell full of international inmates (at least 20 different nationalities). i made more friendships inside the prison. this indicates that jewrdanians are not friendship materials.

tl; dr: a place nobody should live in. i stayed in amman and madaba.

>This thread could be the next homeless japanwiz thread.
I'm not homeless. In the summer months I go on one or two trips across Europe and then it's back to my wiz lair for the rest of the year.

>Are you wealthy?

Nope. I've been on neetbux/autismbux for eight years.

>How much do you spend a month on the road?

I don't keep track but it's not much. I rarely eat out. Usually I just buy food from stores. I avoid spending money on accomodation where it's expensive (Scandinavia, most of Western and Southern Europe). When I can't be fucked to pitch my tent at night I like to just lay myself down to sleep at a cemetery or behind a church.

What kind of bike would you recommend someone getting for something like this? What do you bring with you?

Also where do you sleep ?

Also south america is less safe and more expensive to go to.

See my previous post.

Ideally get a custom-made touring bicycle. If you can't afford one, pretty much any hybrid bike will do as long as it accomodates panniers. A good fit is extremely important for long trips though.
Until 2019 I toured on a singlespeed. A lot is negotiable with regards to the bike.

What's that landscape picture of?

Popovo Polje, Southeastern Bosnia.

Can i do this kind of thing as a blackwiz or will the police catch me and interrogate?

>will the police catch me and interrogate?
Why would they do that lol.
You might get in trouble with drunks in Russia or something if you're unlucky, and people in Eastern Europe and the Balkans are less likely to open up to you. In Western and Northern Europe you'll be fine though.

I myself am quite fond of the country of North America.

i havent been to many places. i have transfered through the us and canada. i had the time to shitpost on chans from there so i guess it counts

which states did you visit?

>civilization by Africans
Made me LOL

The real way to stay safe is to be around whites or east asians. Non-whites in countries that like the USA won't refrain from robbing you because you're American.

SEA seems to have a lot of interesting cultures. Hate tropical climates though.

You could try going in the winter.

The winter means nothing towards the equator. Even southernmost mainland Japan is almost tropical all year round.

Vacationing in white or east asian countries is too expensive.

Forgot this thread existed. Posted my version of pic related somewhere here but I'll transcript to words.

Live in south america, hate it. Went to USA once, enjoyed it but nothing that amazing.

I would love to visit Japan, Korea and Europe in general.

Don't ever come to Brazil, be wise.

I want to visit most of the world. I hope I'll be able to afford it in the future.
I visited most of these places with family but the last few years I've travelled a bit alone.

There's probably some more that I'd like to visit. Yesterday I looked at pictures of Chile and Peru and those places looked nice too. Maybe more of Africa too. I was close to going to Cap Verde once, I might go there eventually.

What was your experience in Egypt like wizzie?

That was when I was 8 so I don't remember it very well. I remember it was warm and sunny so I swam in the pool and ocean a lot. I also laid by the pool playing my Gameboy until my back got fried.

you've been to venezuela? thats super cool. how was it where dd you go? what bout thailand?

What is literally the appeal of traveling unless you're a social butterfly or with a friend group? Paying lots of money to see some architecture?
I don't buy it.

Travel with other people sucks.
Travel on your own is one of the most freeing feelings ever.
As for the appeal, novelty/stimulation and being somewhere where no one knows you is good enough for me.
I love going to far off museums and historical notable locations.
Natural locations like parks, trails, and mountains are really nice to visit too. Personally not a fan of water based locations but tons of people love traveling to those too.

Really there are tons of reasons a wizard could like travel.

Seems mostly like something that would set you up for lots of unpleasant interctions. Whatever novelty appeal will be negated.

It has been nearly 15 years since I visited Venezuela so I don't remember all of it but it was nice. Then I was still a teenager and went with parents.
I think the first place was called Puerto Colombia, close to Choroni and it was apparently a tourist destination for Venezuelans. It was a huge beach and a tiny but nice town, some small hotels and a bunch of restaurants and the town had nice buildings even though everything looked poor.
I bought very cheap empanadas with fish, fried food banana and such.
We also went to a place which I think was Los Llanos, far out in the middle of nowhere and a handful of buildings where huge beetles flew inside. There we drove around in the savannah (it looked a bit like african savannas but I'm not sure what to call it) and fished piranhas to grill with a small piece of meat tied to the end of a rope.
We also went to Merida which was up in the mountains so the climate wasn't as warm, the weather was like Swedish summer all year.
People were terrible at English so I learnt a bunch of Spanish words but I don't remember much now.
There was a restaurant that had a menu item that looked good but they had a shortage of chicken so I couldn't get it, then when I went there other days I asked "hay pollo ahora?" to see if they had chicken that day.

Out of all tropical destinations, flights to Thailand are cheapest and easiest.
I've been there with family and alone and will probably go again. The best thing about Thailand is the ocean and the food. I like beaches for swimming in pleasant water, in Sweden it's very cold except for maybe a couple of weeks per year, even in the summer it's cold unless there's a heatwave.
I've snorkeled a lot, went scuba diving in coral reefs with colorful fish, went on boat trips to small islands and that kind of thing.
In Thailand they also have tourist towns next to beaches which seems to be rare in the lesser known alternatives to Thailand. It's easy to have hotel, beach and plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
The food is delicious, cheap and there's very many different dishes. Last time I had an apartment to stay a few months and I was over 100 kg when I came home.

Most people have common courtesy and don't go out of their way to be dicks.
Plus my mindset and viewpoint doesn't dwell on the rare bad intractions. Which are no more likely then at home anyway, only with the additional tool of being able to walk away back into the unknown nobodies to cut most conflict short before they even leave a lasting impression.

All interactions are bad though.

Then there is nature.

Maybe if you are the problem.

Just got a job in Thailand. It’s an interesting place. I want to train some Muay Thai. The people here seem polite to me. It is a bit too warm for my liking but literally everywhere has air conditioning so it is fine.

Are you getting a good salary?

A decent salary, all things considered. Almost 95000 Baht per month.

You still need to make your way there. I got nature where I live already should I want to be in it.
Fuck off.

That would be pretty nice even in the West.
How is rent there? I had a 30 sqm apartment in a pretty nice place with pool and such for 9000 baht in Phuket, is Bangkok more expensive than that?

Bangkok is more expensive yes. However the current Covid situation means that it is essentially a renters market. I pay 16k Baht a month for a fully furnished apartment near the BTS sky train.

but you know, the red painted contries are full of le ugly non white people and that makes feel sad the major part of the autistic people who visits this place

There was a time in the 60s and 70s when Kabul, Afghanistan was a top destination for hippie tourists and a definitive part of the Hippie trail. (Pic is of Hippie tourists in the 70s before the Russians invaded and really fucked stuff up).

It will be interesting to see where the Taliban take the country/capital. I get the strong impression from documentaries that in parts of rural Afghanistan people have no idea what is going on and basically live a life of medieval style subsistence agriculture and pastoralism; the Taliban have the support of Pashtun tribal elders so they effectively run these rural areas by proxy. The former Afghan President was merely the mayor of Kabul according to some US army commanders.

> before the Russians invaded and really fucked stuff up
Their government was already mostly pro Soviet.

After the 1973 coup and then the 1978 Saur revolution yes. However, most rural Afghans did not think highly of communism and were/still are devout Muslims.

When I say Russia really fucked the place up I mean that the constant war in the 80s there seriously retarded the development of the country and really messed them up.

why almost everyone here hates mexico?

It's got the worst of both worlds. Either:
- You want to travel and don't care about any perceived dangers in doing so/think those dangers are overblown/bullshit. But, you realize that you can only go to so many places. So, you want to go somewhere "exotic." Mexico isn't really "exotic" to a lot of people. At least, many people lump all of Latin America as kind of "the same." So, they'd rather go to Peru up in a remote part of the Andes than see some desert in Mexico.
- You get paranoid about every little thing, and all you hear about Mexico are drug warlords and crime. So, you avoid it.

Personally the tourist areas are aggressively tacky and the non-touristy areas aren't really worth the trip.

I am sure it's a fine country to live but it just isn't that good to visit for the average wizard adventurer.

I think it's very long and difficult. Like maybe taking weeks, it's very warm and a large part of it would probably be pretty far from places to get help or buy food/water. And you can't expect to find drinkable water outside so would have to rely on buying and carrying it.

So itd be better to do it by train.

Wow you have visited many countries. How were spain, greece and romania ? Where did you go ? Would you recommend it ?

do you really wanna vacation someplace known for kidnapping gringos for ransom

I really only care about going to Japan nowadays, but there are a few other places that it would be cool to see, but that I doubt I will ever visit. Japan mostly so I can practice my Japanese and just see stuff that I've read about or seen in anime in person.

how was Ireland? did you see any cool rocks there?

I’m going to Germany Belgium and the Netherlands in a couple months. I like history and culture. So I want to see the museums and art and architecture and shit. Do you have any recommendations?

Luxembourg. In one little area you can see the Ducal Palace, Casemates, and old walls.

But, most interestingly, there's a souvenir shop there. EVERYONE knows about that souvenir shop because it has the best goddam location in the world for a souvenir shop, but it's owned by ASSHOLES. Like Soup Nazi-esque assholes. They're reknowned. Every tourist who has ever been to Luxembourg knows about that place.

Anyways, ignore the note on the fridge and ask them anyways if the cokes in their fridge are cold or not ;).

Crimea is still part of the Ukraine?

they'll never admit it's gone

It isn't, just forgot to separate it, Scotland is more important.

It's been a year. Small update. Completed the British Isles including the meme islands of Guernsey, Jersey and Mann. It was quite a mess crossing borders with the coof memes still going on. I also finally finished the Czech Republic.

Coincidentally I also turned 30 this year. I am officially a wizard now.
